Porsche 936 'Martini' 1976 This model was done as my selection for the 19th annual 24 hour model build, held in January 2025 during the 24 hours of Daytona race. This Tamiya kit was based on an actual car that only once raced in this configuration. It was driven by Jackie Ickxx and Jochen Mass and won the 6 hour race a Mugello, Italy in March 1976. The car was then driven during practice rounds at the 6 hour race at Silverstone in May 1976. However, the front bodywork was changed to a more traditional version with the headlights protruding above the hood. It's a mystery why Tamiya produced this version of the car in 1:24 scale. They did release a later version in 1:20 scale (kit number 20070) and 1:12 scale (kit number 12038) and the 'Moby Dick' version in 1:24 scale (kit number 24318). Tamiya's original model of this car (kit number 24010) was released as a motorized version. It was later updated to remove the motorized parts and included Cartograph decals Base Kit(s): Tamiya 1/24 scale Porsche 935 'Martini' (kit number 24311) Finished: January 2025 Modifications/Additions: - Mesh used for front grill - 3D printed hood pins from Fat Frog models - Opened up scoop in front of windshield - Removed molded in windshield wiper and replaced with part box version - ScaleProduction resin cast headlights (way better than kit chrome versions) - Seat belt material from figure to roll cage - Paint is Tamiya pure white from a spray can, Tamiya acrylics for chassis and interior Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
