1970 Porsche 914/6 Le Mans race car This car placed 6th overall, first in GT2.0 class in the 1970 Le Mans race. The car also appeared numerous times in the movie 'Le Mans', starring Steve McQueen. The model started out as an ADVENT kit, which was a re-box of the original Revell release from the early 1970's. The bulk of the work to turn the street version into the race car was on the flared fenders and wider wheels and tires. Fortunately, a club member had a resin kit that had the modifications. I was able to resin cast each of the fender flares, as well as the wheels and tires. Base Kit(s): ADVENT Porsche 914 (kit number 3141) Finished: February 2021 Modifications/Additions: - fender flares are resin cast copies taken from aftermarket resin kit of the race car - wheels and tires resin cast from the same kit - parts box headlights - srcatchbuilt hood pins - modified left hand drive windshield wipers from Tamiya Nissan kit - scratchbuilt intake trumpets - engine cover opened up and metal mesh screen added - aftermarket seat belts - photoreduced instrument cluster and photoetch bezels - smoothed door panels and scratchbuit handles, added photoetch window crank - scratchbuilt gas cap - decals are from Patto's Place with additional decals custom designed and printed, from Precision Design Company - the Patto's decals were much too large for the 'PORSCHE' lettering on the roof and front bumper and the BP logos on the front fenders and hood - paint is a Tamiya acrylics - white and semi-gloss black Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
