2008 California Special Mustang The fifth generation of the Ford Mustang began selling in 2005. By 2007, Ford announced a 'California Special', (also known as the GT/CS) which was a tribute to the original 1968 California Special. It included styling changes (front fascia grill and chin spoiler, rear fascia diffuser, side and hood scoops and side stripes. This model will become part of my collection of Mustangs - Then and Now. Base Kit(s): Revell '06 Mustang (kit number 85-2839) Revell 2008 Shelby GT500KR (kit number 85-4226) Finished: August 2024 Modifications/Additions: - lowered stance (2 coils on rear springs, spacer on damper, 2 coils on front springs and frame modifications) - poseable steering added - grafted rear bumper and diffuser from Shelby kit - side scoops modified from parts box hood scoops - hood scoop from parts box - front air dam scratch built - hexagonal mesh, from Hobby Design, used for front grill - wheels, tires and brakes from eBay seller, 3D printed - detail chassis painting based on Internet photos of the underside of the newer Mustangs - some engine wiring and Bare Metal Foil hose clamps - flocked floor and Hobby Design seat belt latches - custom printed license plate - interior paint is XF-24 and whitened XF-24, followed by a black wash and semi-gloss clear - paint is Tamiya Pure White from the can, followed by pearl white, no clearcoat or polishing - decals are from PDC.ca, leftover from the 1968 California Special Mustang Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
