1968 California Special Mustang
In 1968, Ford Motor Company offered a limited edition Mustang, known as the GT/CS, the CS stood for California Special.  These
were notchback Mustangs that were available with all the regular interior and engine options of the regular Mustangs, but with
special body modifications and emblems:
- Rear sequential taillight lenses from the Thunderbird (same as used in the 1968 Shelby Mustang)
- side scoops
- blacked out grill with fog lights
- hood latches (same as the 1968 Shelby Mustang)
- rear 'duck tail' spoiler

No plastic manufacturer has offered the California Special Mustang, or even a 1968 Mustang notchback, so some kit-bashing and
much bodywork was needed.  The basis was the AMT 1967 Mustang, onto which was grafted an AMT 1966 roof, trunk and rear
seats, the 1968 AMT Mustang Shelby (original release) rear clip, and 1968 Revell door panels, seats and hood.

It would have been a better choice to start with a 1968 Revell body and graft on the AMT parts, as the interior would not have
need as much work.

This model will become part of my collection of Mustangs - Then and Now
