Kawasaki KR500 GP bike - Eddie Lawson This model was inspired by purchasing a Studio27 decal set designed for both the Kawasaki KR500 and KR100 race bikes ridden by Eddie Lawson. There are numerous photos of the race bike that Eddie rode in 1982. Base Kit(s): Tamiya Kawasaki KR500 (kit number 14028) Finished: Sep 2023 Modifications/Additions: - Front forks replaced with polished aluminum tubing - A mold was made for the backside of the brake calipers and resin cast pieces added to all three - Photoetch faces for brake disks, with scoring grooves added - Exhaust pipes had backs filled in and welds and springs added - Mufflers flange separated from exhaust pipe to allow separate painting - Almost all bolt and screw heads replaced with photoetch or Meng bolt heads and nuts - Hose clamps added to radiator hoses and end fittings to brake lines - 3D printed 7 spoke 16 inch wheels from Falcon Scale Models - 3D printed chainset from Falcon Scale Models - RB Motion rod ends added to front and rear brake supports - Scratchbuilt seats from sheet styrene - Top Studio throttle cable tensioner and fuel lines added to carburetors - Clutch actuator arm added - A few decals from the Studio27 sheet were used - Paint is Tamiya acrylics (all three colours on bodywork), followed by Tamiya acrylic clear, polished and waxed Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
