2002 Honda NSX- R This model was built during the 15th Annual 24 Model Build and photos were posted on the Facebook album HERE, (they are also shown below) I did some research before doing the build and found that the NSX-R (R for Racing), was a special version of the NSX production car. This 2002 model is based on the second generation NSX, (basically a face lift of the original 1992 car). Honda produced only 140 of the these, only in Japan, only RHD and only in the off white body colour (to hark back to Honda's initial foray into Formula 1, with the RA271 and RA272). They removed about 100 kg out of the production car by removing the audio system, air conditioning, sound insulation and power steering and replacing parts with carbon fiber. There were also some body changes (vented front hood and different rear wing) Anyway, this version allowed the engine to be shown because the solid rear engine cover was replaced with a grill. Unfortunately, the Fujimi kit, being a curbside, just relied on some detail painting (not really matching the real car) in order to take advantage. Most of the Hobby Design photoetch parts were used, which fit very well (and which you can hardly see because they are painted black with black behind them, oh well) Base Kit(s): Fujimi Honda NSX/NSX-R (kit number 03960) Finished: February 2021 Modifications/Additions: - left hand dash resin cast from Tamiya kit - Hobby Design phototch set (grills, seatbelts, pedals) - Chrome metal decals for Honda emblems - red velvet carpeting - paint is a Tamiya racing white laquer (from spray can), LP lacquer for red seats and engine parts, acrylics for the rest Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
